MISSION: The Mission of the Air Force Junior ROTC program is to

GOALS: Instill values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and sense of accomplishment.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
First and foremost, this program is NOT about the military. The cadets do not incur any kind of military service obligation. However, for those cadets who are interested in going into the military, they can compete for scholarships and/or Air Force Academy appointments. Those who complete at least two years of the JROTC program and enlist into a military services after graduation, may receive advanced rank instead of starting as an E-1. This equates to a two step increase or and more than $300 a hundred a month
This program is about teaching high school students to take responsibility for themselves and their own actions. This is a course in Aerospace Science and Leadership/Citizenship Education. The curriculum integrates social studies, physical science, leadership, and management, drill and ceremonies, and military customs and courtesies.
Organization: The AFJROTC program at Atlantic High School is organized under the office of the school’s principal for supervision. There are two instructors in the department; the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor(SASI) is a commissioned officer, the Aerospace Science Instructor(ASI) is a non-commissioned officer. Typically, both instructors are retired from active duty with the United States Air Force. The SASI has overall responsibility for coordination and supervising all program activities and primarily teaches the academics of aerospace science. The ASI primarily teaches the leadership management portion of the program and oversees the issuing and return of uniforms. The Air Force Junior ROTC program is organized as a group, composed of six squadrons. All the students in the program are cadets. The corps leadership will be chosen from the overall best of the cadet population and they will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the cadet corps, with the supervision and oversight of the aerospace science instructors.
